Personal Lines

Job Title: PA Underwriter

Job Description:
 

·        Accepts, rejects or modifies new and renewal business by following underwriting guidelines to ensure a profitable book of business

·        Reviews risk acceptability to make subjective decisions based on underwriting guidelines; ensuring standards for compliance and regulations as required

·        Develops on-going relationships with agents, conducts outbound calls with agents to discuss market appetite, quality of submissions and encourage profitable growth and,
keeps agents up-to-date on underwriting and/or product changes

·        Partners with business development team to identify trends and patterns that might create problems and works with them to find appropriate solutions

·        Trains and educates agency staff on Company products, services, underwriting philosophy, etc

·        Network within the insurance community to stay abreast of changes within the industry

·        Handles enquiries as required and support other members of the team and work closely with producers to achieve department targets

·        Performs other functions or tasks assigned from time to time

 

 

Requirements:

 

·        BachelorsDegree / Professional Insurance qualification

·        2-3 years or more of relevant working experience in Insurance

·        Familiar with local market mechanisms and practices

·        A  working knowledge of underwriting, product rating and pricing methodology

·        Dependability, attention to detail, ability to follow / interpret procedures, and employ
reason to accomplish non-routine tasks and duties

·        Intermediate math and problem solving skills

·        Intermediate level of computer skill required with the ability to enter / retrieve information using various applications / systems

·        Demonstrated sound judgment and initiative in working within underwriting guidelines

·        Ability to effectively and independently manage work load while exhibiting good judgement

·        Strong verbal and written communication and phone skills

Finance

Job Title: Accountant

Job Description:
 

·        Assists in the preparation of financial statements for company

·        Compiles, comparison of results against budget, income and expenditure analysis

·        Through preparation / review (as appropriate) of balance sheet / control accounts reconciliations, ensure the balances reported in the financial statements are complete and accurate

·        Analyzes, reconciles, balances, and maintains accounting records

·        Compile monthly management accounts and variance analysis

·        Maintain the general ledger and reconcile accounts monthly

·        Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts to provide relevant and timely financial information to managementand the corporate office

·        Assist with the preparation of annual audited statutory accounts, with the assistance of external auditors, to ensure compliance with all legislative financial reporting requirements

·        Ensure accounting and reporting deadlines are met

·        Prepare schedules and meet any requirements for tax return submissions

 

 

Requirements:
 

·        Bachelors Degree

·        CPA certified

·        More than 4  years of experience in accounting and with exposure to insurance

·        Analytical thinking

·        Good understanding of MAS  requirement , Singapore taxes, GAAP and accrual accounting principles

·        Ability to communicate at all levels of the business (particularly partners), good
interpersonal skills

·        Strong problem solving and analytical skills, including the ability to identify issues and
suggest solutions

·        Good understanding of financial reporting  including knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

·        Strong finance system skills including advanced Excel skills

 

 

 

Job Title: Compliance Officer

Job Description:
 

·        Under general direction, assists in the analysis of the company’s regulatory compliance posture and the development of control recommendations

·        Consults with underwriting, claims and business development to keep field abreast of changes

·        Assists with the analysis and interpretation of regulatory compliance requirements especially as relates to insurance companies

·        Reviews recent proposed activities by regulatory agencies to determine potential impact on company operations

·        Assists CFO in monitoring and reviewing regulatory and legislative changes, preparing company’s response to regulatory changes and following up with appropriate areas to ensure required changes are implemented

·        Consults with business groups on strategic compliance initiatives and works with the Home office to provide corporate compliance perspectives and develop strategy to reduce any potential compliance exposures

·        Assists CFO in providing input and representation on key compliance initiatives, meetings and committees. Stays abreast of industry and compliance trends; recommends and implements changes to internal company processes as needed

·        Balance compliance need with business and company strategies

·        Responsible for answering compliance questions from the field or corporate offices

·        Researches questions regarding regulations

·        Provides recommendations of means to improve compliance controls, conducts analysis and creates reports to help improve the compliance of the business

·        Assist in the internal and external audit requirements

 

 

Requirements:

Job Title: Commercial Lines Underwriter

Job Description:
 

·        Analyzescommercial lines accounts assigned to make decisions based on individual risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and controls

·        Rates, accepts, rejects or modifies new and renewal business within delegated authority levels, company guidelines and state local regulations, to achieve profitable
business growth

·        Creativity and underwriting knowledge to write risks and retain business

·        Develops ongoing relationships with assigned producers to discuss and communicate

·        Market trends and appetite, to promote and evaluate the relevance of the company’s products and services

·        Quality and profitability of producer submissions, service standards, and underwriting
and / or product changes

·        Underwriting issues including but not limited to decisions on cancellations, declinations, exposure concerns, and survey results

·        Assists Underwriting Manager to identify issues of concern and works to resolve or
improve them. Identify sales and marketing opportunities in the process

·        Helps Business Development colleagues to train and educate producers’ staff in the company’s more complex products, services and underwriting philosophy

·        Networks within the insurance community to stay abreast of changes within the industry and ensure the company’s products and pricing remain competitive and relevant

·        Performs other duties as assigned

 

 

Requirements:
 

·        Bachelor Degree

·        3 or more years of commercial lines underwriting experience

·        Actively pursuing professional insurance designation(s); ACII/AAII or equivalent designation preferred

·        Thorough knowledge of commercial lines products and contract language including regulatory and policy differences

·        Strong negotiation and analytical skills

·        Strong computer skills and ability to work with multi-faceted systems

·        Ability to effectively and independently manage workload while exhibiting good judgment

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Title: Commercial Lines Processing Executive

Job Description:
 

·        Reviews, evaluates and categorizes instructions given by underwriters for processing new/renewal policies, declarations or endorsements

·        Verifies information for clarity / accuracy / appropriateness and follows up with
underwriters / producers / direct clients for clarification or for missing or questionable data

·        Compute additional / refund premiums as well as revised annual premium as appropriate

·        Approve policies / endorsements in system up to authority level given

·        Prepare insurance documents (identification cards, certificates, endorsements, schedules, etc.), correspondence and process other insurance transactions to provide
customer service and support efforts to acquire and retain profitable business

·        Prepares and assembles such documents for additional handling by other associates or for distributing to outside contacts

·        Performs other related support duties as requested, such as answering phones, processing mail, assisting customers, scanning, photocopying, monitoring risk
accumulation, etc

·        Provides training and guidance to less experienced associates and provides back-up support in the absence of others

 

 

 

Requirements:

Job Title: Underwriting Assistant (1 Year Contract)

Job Description:
 

·        Reviews details received for policy creation, endorsements, renewals or other underwriting functions

·        Highlights any discrepancies or non-disclosures, missing information, supporting documents accompanying applications etc. to the Underwriter prior to data entry into
the system

·        Accurately computes and enters data in the system for processing of policies, endorsements, renewals etc. based on instructions provided by the Underwriter

·        Uploads supporting documents into the Document Management System, sends for filing or to the Warehouse based on defined processes

·        Approves policies within authority limits

·        Escalates issues or approval requests beyond authority limits to the Underwriter or Team Leader based on defined escalation procedures

·        Performs other functions or tasks assigned from time to time

 

 

Requirements:
 

·        A Level / O Level / Professional Insurance qualification

·        1-2 years or more of relevant working experience in Insurance
