Our Assistant Vice President for Architecture and Solutions, Vinh has been with us for 12 years. He shares more about his journey in tech, where he first started in application support to now scaling and growing various Liberty products such as the MoMo e-wallet, which aims to make insurance accessible to everyone.
You’ve been with Liberty for 12 years now. Tell us about your career journey.
I have been with Liberty for almost 12 years. I first joined in 2009 as an IT & Security Manager for nine years and left in 2018 to further my studies. My first nine years after joining Liberty were fulfilling - I managed to take on various roles in the Engineering department, where I was involved in application support, as well as scaling and growing various Liberty products. I was also exposed to the areas of IT Security and architectural roles, focusing on backend work.
After furthering my studies, I worked in other companies but I still returned to Liberty because of its clear path towards digital transformation. I am now Assistant Vice President for Architecture and Solutions, focusing on defining the right architecture and technical solutions to enhance customer experience - not only overseeing Vietnam but other markets such as Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand.
How do you think the technologies in Liberty are changing legacy systems / disrupting the insurance industry?
In Liberty Insurance, we’re all about putting our customers first through modern technologies. Given the high demand for insurance, creating a seamless digital experience allows us to scale more and make insurance accessible to all.
One example is through our collaboration with MoMo e-wallet, where we were one of the first insurance companies to offer insurance packages online to customers in Vietnam. Additionally, the premium payment service feature lets customers to make cashless payments conveniently and securely through the e-wallet app.
What do you love about working in Liberty?
In my 12 years with the company, my journey with the company has been one of non-stop learning. There are plenty of opportunities to expose yourself and grow in different areas within the IT & Tech space.
I also enjoy the company of my team of young and energetic Gen Y & Zs, as well as my regional counterparts in Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong, whom I can learn new tech trends and best practices from.
